In my under graduate study at Illinois state university our course work involved how to properly train women during all trimesters of pregnancy. I have also worked with several clients in the past who trained their entire pregnancy with me.
Pregnancy weight gain can be a problem but studies have found that women who exercise during their pregnancy have a greater chance of returning to a healthy weight as well as having a more healthy environment for the growing fetus. During pregnancy a women should not gain more than 12-20lbs. The old saying that you are eating for two is so not true. Remember most babies weigh between 5.5 -10 pounds! That’s definitely not two people.
